Joining a local natural history society, bird watching group, park friends
group or wildlife club can be a great way for young and old to get involved
in wildlife conservation. You can join in with a wide variety of work
from practical work days to surveying or becoming
a volunteer ranger.
The BBC’s
Springwatch campaign provides a host of services and ideas. It
encourages involvement in a host of activities from wildlife surveys
and recording various species to improving local sites for wildlife.
There are Volunteer England centres throughout the country that can provide information on how to get involved in conservation projects in your local area. View a list of Lancashire’s centres.
The BTCV (British
Trust for Conservation Volunteers) regularly run conservation groups
on a number of different of different projects in Lancashire.
In East Lancashire the Prospects Foundation regularly organise conservation activities for members of the local community.
The Lancashire Community Pond Warden Scheme is open to all interested in pond related wildlife.
