Natural Economy Northwest as a project has drawn to a close, but its legacy still lives on. It aims to maximise the economic benefit from existing and new investment in the region's natural environment. A partnership led by Natural England, the Northwest Regional Development Agency and the SITA Trust, it draws on the expertise of specialists working in tourism, business development and the environment sector. It nurtures natural environment projects that, with the right investment, will deliver economic, social and cultural benefits across the Northwest.
As a result of the 3 highly productive years of work, the project has a number of resources that may be useful for reference or practically in your work:

Forest of Bowland Natural Tourism - Bowland Wildlife and Lancashire Wildlife Blogs

A group of green tourism businesses in the Forest of Bowland has teamed up to help visitors discover the wildlife hotspots of this beautiful area.
It's been set up by Barrie Tyrer Web Design working with Lancashire Green Tourism project involving 16 tourism businesses who are either accredited in The Green Tourism Business Scheme (GTBS: a national sustainable tourism certification scheme which is the largest and most established scheme of its type in the UK) or are members of the Forest of Bowland Sustainable Tourism Business Network .
This group of dynamic businesses have launched the website (www.bowlandwildlife.org.uk) that highlights the area's wildlife opportunities. The tourism businesses themselves provide up to date details and images of wildlife sightings via the blog.. An online map of the area shows exactly where different species including rare birds can be found and visitors are also encouraged to get involved through signposting to a variety of conservation projects and events.
Due to the success of the Bowland wildlife blog and widening interest from green tourism accredited businesses, the project has commissioned Barrie Tyrer Web Design to launch an additional site to encompass businesses in wider Lancashire . The new site includes all the Bowland blog postings as well as new interested businesses and features wildlife hot spots, habitat of the month and places to visit and stay.
