Lancashire and Greater Manchester Mammal Group

We have recently started up the group to increase mammal recording across the region, and to provide the support to develop the skills and information needed.

Calendar of Events

Aims

  • bring together people of all ages and experience who have a shared interest in mammals;
  • encourage the study and conservation of mammals in the local area;
  • find out which mammals are present in the area and in what numbers by surveying and monitoring;
  • raise awareness of mammals and the threats they face, through talks, events and publicity;
  • provide advice and practical help with conserving threatened species in the area;
  • organise training in identification, surveys and methods of surveying mammals in the wild;
  • support the work of The Mammal Society and recruit new members.

The group are currently working to develop a constitution, launch events and a training and survey schedule for 2011. Further Information will be posted here in due course.

Records and sightings are good to have a grid reference for OS maps, date, person who saw mammal, and contact details.
