What is Biodiversity?

Biodiversity is the intricate network of ecosystems, habitats and species comprising of all the life on earth. Biodiversity provides the support systems that sustain human existence.

It’s the wealth of wildlife on your doorstep – everything from the landscape in which you live, through all the animals, plants and insects you live with, to the genes that make you an individual.

This section will take you through biodiversity, why its important, its history and why its relevant to Lancashire.
